Police: Man Arrested for Drunk Driving a Stolen Car

On Wednesday night South Burlington police say a Burlington man as arrested for drunk driving a stolen car. 

According to South Burlington police, an officer noticed a 2012 Honda civic that was reported stolen on October 30 in Burlington was on White Street. 

Police stopped the car, the driver was 26-year-old Kenneth Rutkowski, of Burlington.  According to the press release, Rutkowski showed signs being drunk, wouldn’t say who he was, and wouldn’t get out of the car. 

Police say Rutkowski was eventually arrested after a short struggle with police. 

Officials say Rutkowski also had an active warrant for Failure to Appear for a Jury Drawing in a Simple Assault charge.  Rutkowski was charged with Aggravated Operation of a Motor Vehicle Without Owner’s Consent, Driving While Intoxicated 2nd Offense, Criminal DLS, and Resisting Arrest.  He was held at Chittenden Correctional Facility for lack of $5,000 bail. 

Also in the press release, the passenger in the car that Rutkowski was driving was 38-year-old Adriena Griffin, of Burlington.  She was also taken into custody by police for an outstanding arrest warrant for charges of Simple Assault, Retail Theft, and Fraud.  Griffin was held at Chittenden Correctional Facility, her bail was set at $3,000.
