Police still searching for Northeast Correctional inmate who jumped fence early Friday

Police and K-9’s are searching for a 35-year-old inmate who escaped Northeast Correctional Complex early Friday

Shannon Edwards escaped the prison around 1 a.m. by climbing over an exterior fence. State Troopers believe Edwards is heading to the Middlesex-Waterbury area, where he’s from originally.

Edwards is a white male with hazel eyes and brown hair, he is about five foot seven and weighs approximately 185 pounds. Edwards was last seen wearing a white long sleeve t-shirt, dark grey sweatpants, and white sneakers.

State Police say he poses a potential threat to public safety and ask people to remain vigilant. “We ask that individuals use caution with him,” says Lieutenant Hugh O’Donnell. “We do have information that he’s made threats in the past, so we’re just being careful with that, and ask that if somebody sees him of has information to give us a call and stay away from him, and let us handle it from there.”

If you have any information, call the St. Johnsbury Barracks at 802-748-3111.
