Police: Suspect from high-speed chase in Windham County arrested

Windham County Sheriff’s Office says a man that was wanted after a high-speed chase last week was arrested on Thursday.

Police say Jacob McAllister 26, of Westminster was stopped by police on Bellows Falls Road in Putney.  Authorities say McAllister ran from the vehicle and police searched for him for a mile and half through the snow.

A media release states that McAllister was found in a garage and was transported to the Westminster State Police Barracks. 

Officials say McAllister was charged with driving while criminally suspended, attempting to elude, unlawful trespass, violation of conditions of release. 

Vermont State Police say there could be further charges after a search of the vehicle McAllister is accused of crashing after the high-speed chase on December 21 was found to have 275 bags of heroin.  

Officials say the passenger in the vehicle from chase, Chelsea Ovaitte, 22 of Bellows Falls is facing charges of drug trafficking.
