South Burlington Police say a Springfield man was arrested and charged with the attempt to lure a child for sexual activity on October 12.
Police say, Edward Goodspeed, 38, made plans via social to meet who he thought was a 14-year-old girl to engage in sexual activity.
A media release states that the teen was actually the South Burlington Police who were doing an undercover investigation.
Police say the conversations started on August 27 and continued for a month and a half.
According to police, Goodspeed made plans to meet the “teen” in the bathroom of the Vermont Department of Motor Vehicles in Springfield. He was instead met by police and was arrested.
Goodspeed was charged with attempting to lure a child for sexual activity, attempting to disseminate indecent material to a minor and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. He was arraigned in court on October 13.
