Vermont State Police say a 20 year old is dead after a two-car crash in Danby Thursday night.

Samuel Jenks, 20, of Sunderland, Vt. was pronounced dead at the scene of a crash at the intersection of Danby Mountain Road and Brook Road just before 7 p.m., according to police.  Officials say three people were involved.

A preliminary investigation found Lucas Carnelli-Cadete, 19, of Manchester, CT was driving a 2004 Ford Taurus towards Brook Road, while William Secoy, 38, of Danby, was heading south on Brook Road towards Danby Mountain Road, according to a release from police.

Authorities say the cars crashed in the intersection, both rolled over after going off the road.

The passenger in Carnelli-Cadete’s car, Jenks, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to officials.  Carnelli-Cadete was flown to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center for serious injuries, while Secoy was taken to Rutland Regional Medical Center, treated, and released.

Police say any criminal charges from the incident will be filed by the Rutland County State’s Attorney’s Office at the end of the investigation.
