Police Warning the Public Over Facebook Account Claiming to be FedEx CEO

The Malone Police Department is warning the public about a Facebook scam involving FedEx.

Police say the scam involves a Facebook account impersonating the Founder, President, and CEO of FedEx Frederick Smith sends potential victims a friend request. The account then claims that a victim could receive a $50,000 grant if a few steps are completed.

According  to police, the scammer demands  that money be wired to various locations prior to “FedEx” sending the grant money.

One of the victims, police say she received a phone call from a “friend” tell her that she received the grant money.

Anyone who receives this should scam should report it to their local police department.
