According to Governor Andrew Cuomo’s office, a project adding new transmission cables under Lake Champlain is complete.
The 1.7 mile addition is part of an 8 mile long transmission line running from Plattsburgh to Vermont.
The new section uses fiber optic cables to improve power communications and data sharing.
The project supports Cuomo’s clean energy goal for fifty percent of the state’s electricity to come from renewable sources by 2030.
