Proposed bill would extend high speed internet to rural Vermont

State lawmakers discussed supporting an act to extend the internet to rural Vermont.
    
The bill h.582 proposes raising the state’s universal service fee to bring high speed internet to every corner of Vermont.
    
Communications providers often don’t invest in infrastructure in rural parts of the state where populations are low.
    
As more services, healthcare, and educational needs rely on internet access lawmakers say public funding is needed to ensure access for all Vermonters.
