School officials say a ransomware virus called DoublePulsar attacked the network at Dartmouth College.

It happened on December 18, over winter break.

School officials tell Local 22 News that IT staff observed some “abnormal traffic” on the network and found the virus that is designed to encrypt files.

41 machines were affected but none of the files were encrypted because of the software protections are already in place.
