RedBirds Snap Losing Streak, Sweep Red-Hot Puerto Rico

The Plattsburgh RedBirds snapped a five game losing streak with 5-3 and 2-0 victories against the Puerto Rico Islanders at Chip Cummings Field.

Puerto Rico had it’s own streak snapped on Thursday, entering the game on a nine-game winning streak, matching the RedBirds’ league-best run from early in the season.

The day’s Empire Pro League action saw the Islanders and Old Orchard Beach Surge fall into a tie for the lead in the league’s second half standings.  The stronger of those teams will meet Plattsburgh in the league championship series, begging on August 22.
