Some families who think dad is a ‘reel’ catch took him fishing Sunday on Lake Champlain.
The 35th Annual Lake Champlain International Father’s Day Fishing Derby has been going on since Friday and families were at it again today.
People can enter a wide variety of fish into the tournament, including bass, walleye and pike.
Organizers say anglers are reeling in some big fish this weekend.
“I’ve seen some of the largest bass and walleye and northerns that we’ve seen weighed in in recent years anyway, no actual lake records yet, that I know about, but consistently larger fish than I remember from past years,” Weigh Station Captain Don Tobi said.
Once the fish are weighed, Tobi says they are released back into the lake.
The tournament will continue through Monday afternoon. Entires have to be at the dock by 4:00 p.m.
