Manchester, Vermont’s Reggie Parker of Green Mountain National Golf Club carded a two-day score of 159 to win the VSWGA Senior Women’s Amateur Championship by seven strokes at the Country Club of Vermont.
Parker’s won the tournament for the ninth time Thursday, edging Brattleboro Country Club’s Liz Walker by seven strokes.
Years after beating cancer, Parker says it’s the life lessons she learned off the course, that made her the golfer she is today.
She recalled, “You sort of put golf in perspective in life. And as important is it is to us when we’re going through it. It’s not important in the big scheme of things. And so, you shouldn’t get too upset about it. Don’t take it past the moment. And that’s really what I’ve learned. I still get angry. I still get frustrated. But after it’s over, you just forget about it and get on with the next shot, and that’s what I’ve finally been able to do.”
Mary Brush of Burlington Golf Club finished third ahead of Killington’s Patti Haas and Dede Mahler of the host club.
