Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders is expected to announce plans for a 2020 presidential bid soon. That’s according to Yahoo News.
Their report cites two unnamed sources with direct knowledge of his plans who call the announcement imminent. Sanders is expected to form an exploratory committee to seek next year’s Democratic nomination, much as he did in 2016.
We at Local 22 and Local 44 News have reached out to staff members for the senator to try to confirm all of this, but we haven’t heard from any of them so far.
The Democratic presidential field is already crowded — eight people, including New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, have already launched either a full-on presidential campaign or an exploratory committee to look into the idea of a campaign. However, Vermont’s 77-year-old junior senator has fared extremely well in early polls.
