“Sex and the City” star Cynthia Nixon announces candidacy for New York Governor

Former “Sex and the City” star Cynthia Nixon announced her candidacy for New York Governor on Monday afternoon.

The actress shared it in a short tweet, saying:

@CynthiaNixon: I love New York, and today I’m announcing my candidacy for governor. Join us:

Nixon also updated her Twitter bio to say she’s a “progressive advocate who is running for governor to fight for a better, more fair New York.”

Nixon was known for her role as Miranda Hobbes on the longtime HBO series, “Sex and the City.”
