A sign at a Burlington High School Football game has sparked anger on social media.
Burlington High School released a statement following an incident last Friday. The release reads that a Rice Memorial student had a sign displaying insults about the character of BHS football team members.
The school says the sign was not displayed at the game, but instead posted on social media.
According to the report Rice officials have met with the students involved and are now determining a course of action.
The Burlington School District released a statement saying “We take this incident very seriously and will continue to be a part of the follow-up to the event”
Representatives from Burlington High School and the police department say the sign didn’t spark any violence.
However, Burlington police say they are investigating a fight that broke out behind the bleachers that same night. The report says the people in this fight were part of an ongoing dispute.
If you have any information on that incident, call Burlington Police at (802) 540-2235.
