A South Burlington woman was laid to rest today after allegedly being shot and killed by her boyfriend.
Anako “Annette” Lumumba’s life tragically ended on May 3.
Family and friends gathered at the LaVigne Funeral Home this morning where hundreds of people arrived to pay their respects.
Some visitors were still in awe about Lumumba’s death as they were heard saying “I still cant believe this is happening.”
During the church service at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, close family were dressed in traditional attire and sang songs in Lumumba’s honor.
Families were seen embracing and comforting one another before heading to St. Francis Cemetery.
Jules Wetchi, a friend and community member said their faith is what will get them through this difficult time.
“The family is very, very sad but I think with the faith we have, its going to help to be in peace. I think our god gonna give the peace to the family,” Wetchi said.
Lumumba was 33-years-old and leaves behind three children.
