St. Albans: Police Arrest Citizens Bank Armed Robbery Suspect

St. Albans police say the suspect in Wednesday morning’s bank robbery has been arrested. 

According to police, Benjamin Edwards, 53, of St. Albans was identified as the suspect in the Citizens Bank robbery that happened Wednesday morning. 

Police say Edwards was arrested at a motor vehicle stop at the intersection of Interstate Access Road and Main Street in St. Albans.  

According to the media release, Edwards will be arraigned at the Franklin County Superior Court on Wednesday afternoon to answer to the charges of assault and robbery. 


St.  Albans Police say on Wednesday morning the Citizens Bank was robbed by a man with a gun. 

According to police, around 9 a.m., a man walked into the Citizens Bank in on South Main Street in St. Albans.  Police say he took off on foot with the money and left the gun at the scene. 

Investigators say the suspect is a black male in his late 30’s or early 40’s, slender build and is around 6 feet tall.  He was wearing green hoodie and pants, and a dark colored hat.  Police say he was possibly wearing boots. 

Officials say there was a red dye pack included in the money that should have activated when the suspect took off.
