August is one of the busiest months for tourism in the Green Mountain State.
According to the Vermont Agency of Commerce and Community Development, millions of visitors spend nearly $500 million in the state over the summer, which supports almost 38,000 jobs. Field Guide Hotel in Stowe General Manager Will Canning said it’s important to keep tourists coming back.
“Most travelers are not coming for one night,” Canning said. “They’re coming for multiple nights. So we all have an opportunity to succeed from one good traveler experience.”
The most recent data from the Agency of Commerce and Community Development shows that visitors are spending a majority of their money on food and drinks, then lodging. That’s followed by gasoline, groceries, recreation and entertainment, then camping.
