The Marine Corps Toys for Tots needs your help this holiday season.

According to a media release, Toys for Tots has had a historically low donation year.  Toys for Tots is a charity that helps families in need during the holiday season.

“We have NO toys for their children,” said Kathy Ely, Director Toys for Tots.

Officials say Toys for Tots is run 100% by volunteers and any donations go 100% to local families.  The media release says the charity usually helps over 1,000 families which benefits around 3,000 children in the Champlain Valley.

According to the media release, the charity began helping families that had registered earlier in the month.  Normally Toys for Tots helps families who didn’t register, with a walk-in process that is supposed to begin on Wednesday.  Officials say as of right now Toys for Tots can’t help walk-in families because there is not enough toys to give to them.

If you would like to help donate funds or toys you can do so by donating at the distribution center that’s located next to Price Chopper on Center Road in Essex Center.
