President Trump was at Fort Drum in New York Monday to sign a new defense bill.

The John S. McCain National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2019 is a 716 billion dollar defense bill.

It includes 77 F-35 fighter jets.

Congresswoman Elise Stefanik invited the president back in March.

President trump said in his speech, “Representative Elise Stefanik called me so many times, I didn’t want to take her call.”

He said he didn’t think he’d be able to make it to Fort Drum but “that didn’t suit her”.

At Fort Drum the president called Stefanik on stage in which she said it was an honor to welcome the 45th president to Fort Drum.

“Thank you for being here to sign the historic national defense authorization act which includes the largest pay increase, support for our military families and investing in our military readiness.” Said Stefanik. “Climb to glory 10th Mountain Division, thank you.”

Stefanik says the division has been the most deployed unit in the U.S Army since 9/11.

President Trump attended a fundraiser dinner in Utica, NY for Congresswoman Claudia Tenney after his speech at Fort Drum.
