WATERBURY, Vt. - Local 22 & Local 44 News has learned that two members of the Vermont State Police Tactical Services Unit have been reassigned.
Vermont State Police Colonel Matthew Birmingham says Trooper Christopher Brown and Lieutenant Hugh O'Donnell were taken off the team last week.
The changes come just weeks after a fatal officer-involved shooting at Montpelier High School. Brown was one of several troopers involved in the shooting.
Police say Brown was also involved in two other shootings, including a fatal shooting in Poultney in September 2017, and a shooting in Fayston back in 2015.
Prosecutors ruled that both shootings were justified.
O’Donnell was the team’s leader. Captain John Merrigan is now in charge.
Birmingham would not comment further, calling it a personnel matter.
