A community is in mourning after the loss of a Georgia Firefighter.
58 year-old Steven LaPierre, died after suffering a heart attack while on the scene of a brush fire in Georgia.
LaPierre was a member for the Georgia Fire Department for more than 40 years, and it’s the first to die in the line of duty since the department has been in place over 60 years ago.
“Steven LaPierre embodied the spirit of local public service,” said current Georgia Fire Chief Keith Baker. “As we mourn Steven’s passing we pay tribute and appreciation to the countless hours he spent making our community a better and safer place to live.”
LaPierre leaves behind two adult children.
