Vermont GMO Labeling Lawsuit Dismissed

News

Vermont’s Attorney General William Sorrell says the case challenging Vermont’s GMO food labeling law in grocery stores is being dismissed.

The Grocery Manufacturing Association and other groups filing the lawsuit say it’s because of the new federal law that will set a “National Bioengineered Food Disclosure Standard”. The new federal law will override Vermont’s GMO food labeling law.

“We believe that consumers are entitled to straightforward, clear, plain-English descriptions of what is in their food,” said General Sorrell.

“And we will continue to work to get consumers the information they would have received under Vermont’s law,” added Sorrell.
