Vermont Governor’s Marijuana Commission Meets First Time Thursday

News

A commission that has been tasked by the governor to study the best way to legalize marijuana for recreational use will have its first meeting Thursday.

The commission and its three subcommittees will look at highway safety, education, prevention, and taxation and regulation.

The Marijuana Advisory Commission will meet at the Vermont Department of Public Safety in Waterbury—from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Its three subcommittees will meet from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Governor Phil Scott, who vetoed a marijuana legalization bill in May, signed an executive order earlier this month that established the commission.

The commission is expected to provide its first report to the governor by January 15, 2018.
