State Police in Rutland are warning folks of phone scams going on in the area.

According to police, for the last few months, people have been getting scam calls that say friends and loved ones are allegedly arrested for DUI in another state.  Police say the calls require the victim to wire money right away.

Officials say other scams have been going around that are about folks winning a sweepstakes or winning a prize.  In this scam, the caller tells the victim they need to pay the taxes on the winnings by wiring money.

Police say you can find tips on how to avoid scams by clicking here.
