News

The next time you land at Burlington International Airport, you’ll get a history lesson at baggage claim.

The Vermont Sports Hall of Fame unveiled its first major project today at BTV.

A colorful mural hanging in baggage claim showcases 13 hall of fame inductees who have made their mark in sports from baseball to deer hunting and football.

The organization says it’s designed to highlight the history of Vermont sports for people coming into the state.

“If you look around the airport, it’s very Vermont centric.” Said Barry Stone of the Vermont Sports Hall of Fame. “Now we can add to this by displaying the best of Vermont’s athletes.”

Barbara Cochran is inducted in the Vermont Sports Hall of Fame. “Vermont’s such a special place and i’m so, so glad that we’re able to grow up here and be part of the history of sports in Vermont as well.”

The Vermont Sports Hall of Fame doesn’t have its own building to showcase the athletes.

They say they donate all funds to “Prevent Child Abuse”.
