Vermont State Police announced Friday an arrest operation in Rutland and Bennington counties led to 12 arrests between September 16 and December 15.  The Vermont Drug Task Force conducted several drug investigations into the sale of heroin and crack cocaine, according to police.

Officials say there are nine state defendants and three federal defendants as a result of the police operation.  Charges include selling heroin, selling crack cocaine, selling a non-controlled substance and child endangerment.

Authorities say of the three federal defendants, Rick Webster and Sheri Fitzgerald were arrested after investigations by the Southern Vermont Drug Task Force, the FBI, and the U.S. Attorney’s Office.  Both are charged with maintaining a drug-involved premise, and are in the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service, according to a release from police.

Megan Harpp was arrested by the U.S. Marshal Service in New York City on Dec. 5, officials say, after an arrest warrant was issued.  This because she failed to appear in federal court on Nov. 14, 2016.  Authorities say she is facing federal drug charges after a joint investigation by the Vermont Drug Task Force, the FBI, and the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
