VSP: Police Officer Shoots and Kills Suspect in Winooski

Vermont State Police say a man has died after being shot by a police officer in Winooski just before 5:00 PM Friday night.

Police say the shooting occurred behind the O’Brien Community Center on Mallets Bay Avenue.

State police were asked to investigate the shooting.

At this time, police aren’t releasing the name of the deceased, the officers involved or what agencies the officers are with. 

Police expect to be on the scene gathering evidence late into the night. They say once the investigation is complete, the suspect’s body will be taken to the medical examiner for an autopsy.

Once the investigation is complete the Chittenden County State’s Attorney and Vermont Attorney General’s office will review the incident.

Vermont State Police say that they’ve been asked to respond to an officer-involved shooting in Winooski.
