Weather Blog: A damp and cold Tuesday

Dreary… that’s the best way I can think to describe the start to this week. Today, while most saw a very cold rain, some saw a bit of freezing rain coat the ground and the trees. No matter how you sliced it, Monday was downright raw.

Unfortunately, I am the bearer of bad news because Tuesday is shaping up to be just as raw and wet, and that isn’t our only shot for rain this week. As the saying goes, April showers bring May flowers!

Here’s how the rest of the week is shaping up:

Tonight: Mostly Cloudy, mid 30’s.

Tuesday: Dry to start the day but rain showers with embedded downpours arrive just after lunchtime for the North Country and the Champlain Valley. East of the Green Mountain rain will see rain transition into a mix of sleet/ freezing rain and then snow. Some slick road may be present for the evening commute, keep that in mind Tuesday evening. Temperatures climb to the low to mid 40’s.

Tuesday Night: Rain/Snow showers become all snow showers by early morning Wednesday. Expect a slushy wet coating in the valleys, while the higher elevations could see 1-3″ with temperatures falling to the low 30’s.

Wednesday: A few lingering snow showers early, partly cloudy by afternoon. Temperatures climb to the mid 40’s.

Thursday: Mostly sunny. Upper 40’s

Friday: Mostly cloudy, with another area of low pressure bringing in rain showers by evening. Upper 50’s.
