Weather Blog: After a frigid start we’re feeling summer-like by the weekend

NANTS INGONYAMA BAGITHI BABA (intro to Lion Kings- “Circle of Life”) The beautiful sunrise at 6:36 AM lighting up the fog in the Champlain Valley is reminding me of the Lion King!

But this morning temperatures sure aren’t feeling like Africa! It’s a chilly morning with frost advisories outside of the Champlain and St. Lawerence Valleys. Freeze warning for Coos county in NH and Essex county in Vt.

Here are our low temperatures this morning. Hey Saranac Lake, did you grab the hat and gloves this morning? Any thoughts about turning on the heat?

One thing that these chilly mornings are really helping to bring out… the foliage! Most of the region is seeing a few trees here and there that are showing their beautiful fall colors. The higher elevations of the Greens and into the Northeast Kingdom are seeing a bit more coverage.

Beautiful weather with plenty of sunshine and a few fair-weather clouds hangs around through Sunday while temperatures creep up from the low 70’s to the low 80’s by the weekend. For a bit of perspective, the average high temperature for Burlington this time of year is 69° so this weekend will feel a bit toasty!

Have a great day!
