Weather: Soggy End to the Week (8/18 AM)

Friday August 18th

Good morning! Happy Friday!

Pack your patience (and a rain jacket) for the morning rush to work. Widespread rain kicks off Friday, with more hit-or-miss type showers and thunderstorms closing out the day.

Friday, as a low pressure system cruises to our northwest and north, it drags a warm and cold front right through our neck-of-the woods. It’s the warm front first during the morning that provides widespread moderate to heavy rainfall.

By midday, that batch of showers lifts northeast of the region and we dry out for lunchtime and early afternoon. There may even be a few breaks in the clouds and some peeks of sunshine.

As the cold front approaches mid afternoon into this evening, scattered showers and thunderstorms bubble up. Some storms could produce small hail and gusty wind. Top temp today, mid 70s. Southeast wind 10-15 mph. Total rainfall will range from 0.25″ up to 1+”.

Tonight, mostly cloudy with a handful of showers as the cold front rushes through. Mild, mid to low 60s.

Saturday, partly sunny with a few early morning rain showers, then a slight chance for a brief, passing bout of rain during the afternoon. Overall, however, most are dry and partly sunny. Upper 70s. Sunday, mostly to partly sunny. Near 80 degrees. Dry and warm early next week. Great eclipse viewing weather Monday. Mostly sunny. Low 80s.

Have a fabulous Friday and a great weekend, too!
