Weather: Weather perfection for now....(7/12/2018)

I hope everyone is having a great week so far. Thursday night, quiet weather continues under mostly clear skies. Lows will drop into the 50s but we will have to be careful of patchy fog, some of it could be thick. The fog thins out Friday morning and we're cruising toward another beautiful afternoon. Expect lots of sun, low humidity and highs in the low to mid 80s.

Friday night, clouds thicken up and humidity goes up but the night stays dry; lows will be in the mid 60s. Saturday, spotty showers and a few thunderstorms will dot the area during the day. I'm not concerned about severe weather but there is a risk for lightning, keep that in mind while you're outside. It won't be raining everywhere or all day but your plans might get delayed for a few minutes at a time. Meanwhile, highs will get into the upper 70s & low 80s.

Saturday night, showers end but it stays a bit sticky, lows will be in the low to mid 60s. Sunday will be sunnier & hotter; highs will get into the upper 80s & low 90s. A couple mountain showers or thunderstorms will try to get going but most of us don't see them.

Sunshine, heat and humidity continue on Monday. We'll be back into the 80s & 90s, I know you didn't put your AC away. Tuesday, widespread rain arrives and some of it will come down heavy. It's early but we may have to contend with some stronger storms.

We do need rain, moderate drought conditions have expanded into a lot of central & southern Vermont & New Hampshire. Since April 1, parts of that area are running 1-3" below normal in the rain bucket. Rivers, creeks and streams are very low. Lakes & ponds are still OK but levels are dropping quick.

The northern Champlain Valley isn't technically in an official drought yet. However, Lake Champlain has dropped nearly 5 feet since it was around 100' in early May. It's perfectly normal for the lake to drop during the summer. Typically it drops about 2-3 feet from early May to mid-July.
