The Vermont Lake Monsters returned home to Burlington to face Aberdeen for a three game series. The Monsters opened up game one Sunday night.
The Aberdeen Ironbirds put up five runs in the top of the second inning for a 6-0 lead. Aberdeen kept Vermont scoreless for all nine innings.
The Ironbirds ultimately shutout the Lake Monsters 11-0. The two will meet again tomorrow night at 7:05 p.m. at Centennial Field.
Aberdeen caused the Lake Monsters hitters a season-high 17 strikeouts.
Vermont falls to 25-31 this season and Aberdeen increases its record to 30-26.
