Burlington senior Elliot Maher has played hockey for as long as he can remember, and it shows.
Maher dazzles on the ice, but also excels on the pitch and the lacrosse field.
“I’ve been skating since I was two,” Elliot explained. “My whole family skates. Growing up with hockey in my life was consistent. I’d try other sports, they’d come and go, but I always stuck with hockey.”
Upon his nomination, Elliot had scored ten goals in three games. He enjoys attacking as a forward, especially after spending some time as a blueliner.
“Believe it or not, I was a defenseman growing up,” Maher said. “One year we were really strong defensively in pee-wees or squirts, and my coach was like, ‘Elliot you’re really fast, do you want to try offense?’ I was like, ‘sure,’ and once I scored my first goal, I knew I was not going back to defense.”
Off the ice, Elliot detailed his aspirations to meet his birth parents in South Korea. He plans to make the journey there with his father this summer.
