The Cougars’ senior captain has been a huge reason that the MMU field hockey team rebounded from a down year in 2018.

“She’s so patient and so good at not making her move too early, or too late,” MMU senior forward Allison McNamara said. “She has great timing.”

As talented as Madi Cohen is on the field, the Bolton, Vt. native also loves the arts, and has been playing the violin since she was three years old.

“I started because my grandmother teaches,” Cohen said. “I think, like a sport, it really requires dedication. You really have to practice or you’re not going to get better.”

Through music, Cohen has been introduced to the Vermont Youth Orchestra and the Vermont All State Music Festival.

“It’s been a really good outlet outside of field hockey,” Cohen added. “It’s also universal, so no matter where you’re from or what language you speak, everybody understands it. Everybody understands the emotions that are put into it.”
