No. 2 Missisquoi faced No. 4 BFA-St. Albans on Saturday for the D1 state title.
The MVU Thunderbirds haven’t won a softball title since 1994, neither have the BFA Comets since 2006.
At the bottom of the third inning BFA led 1-0. At the top of the fifth inning BFA’s Meghan Connor whacked one towards center field and it bounced off the wall for a solo-homer. The game was tied at 2-2.
In the top of the seventh inning Meghan Connor sliced one out to third base and Mary Gratton touched home plate. 3-2 Comets.
At the bottom of the seventh with two outs, Missisquoi hit a high ball with a runner on. BFA’s Caitlyn Dasaro cut under the ball and fired it towards home plate for the final out of the game.
BFA outlasted MVU 3-2.
