Cyclones use 4-run first inning to pull past Vermont

Unfortunately, the force was not with the Lake Monsters on Star Wars night at Centennial Field on Saturday.

The Brooklyn Cyclones put up four runs in the first inning, highlighted by Joe Genord’s three-run home run, on the way to a 5-1 win over the Monsters.

Vermont responded in the bottom of the inning when Logan Davidson, Oakland’s 2019 first round pick, blasted a solo home run over the billboards in right field. It was Davidson’s first professional home run and the only run of the game for the Lake Monsters.

Brooklyn added one more run in the ninth on a Vermont throwing error following a double from Antoine Duplantis.

The Monsters and Cyclones will close out the series on Sunday, July 28 at 5:05 p.m. at Centennial Field.
