Burlington high school hosted the 47th annual track and field invitational on Saturday.
In the girls 4×800 relay, Missisquoi Valley Union is the defending state champions and secured today’s win as well with a 10.07.59 time. Rice Memorial followed with a completion time of 10.14.90
In the next event the boys 4×800 relay defending state champs St. Johnsbury Academy took the win by a stretch with a time of 8.27.47. The hosts Burlington followed shortly after with a second place finish at 8.33.14.
For the boys 110 meter hurdles, it was a battle between Essex’s Jamaal Hankey and Burlington’s Kai Smith-Bilowith. BHS secured the win as Smith-Bilowith finished with a 15.12 time and Hankey followed soon after with a 15.24 time.
In the girls 100 meter hurdles, Essex’s reigning state champion Nejla Hadzic dominated with a 16.87 completion time and led the entire race.
