Drake Hull claims third-straight VGA championship

Finishes five under to claim another amateur championship

Rutland’s Drake Hull fought through a weather delay at his home course and finished strong to complete a three-peat and take home the 2019 Vermont Golf Amateur championship on Thursday.

Hull, who golfs for UConn, was challenged by 18-year-old Bryson Richards in the final rounds of the 72-hole contest, but pulled away in the late stages to rise above the pack and and finish with a -5 mark. Richards tied with Brattleboro’s Jacob Zaranek for second with a +1 score.

This is the first time a three-peat has been completed in over a decade; St. Johnsbury’s Trevor Murphy did it from 2005-07.
