Essex girls’ hockey bounces back to win state title

After falling short to BFA in last year’s title game, Essex girls’ hockey flipped the script on BFA-St. Albans by beating the Comets 2-0 in the state championship game at Gutterson Fieldhouse Thursday night.

Abby Robbins broke a 0-0 tie late in the second period as she slotted in a goal right in front of the cage for a 1-0 Hornet lead.

Then in the third period, Essex’s Hannah Himes provided some insurance with a second goal for the Hornets.

With the 2-0 finish, EHS secured its seventh Division I state title in program history.
