Essex hockey claims back-to-back state titles

Essex took down Rice 5-0 for the championship title. The hornets were led by Grady Cram, a senior forward who secured three assists and two goals. Cram became the first player since 1986 to post five points in a title game.

After a scoreless first period, the hornets netted three goals in the second period to cruise away with the lead.

This is Essex’s 16th state title. The Hornets also won the state championship last year with a 5-0 shutout over Spaulding.
