Hockey for Hope kicks off the winter sports season

Sports

This weekend saw the puck drop for the third annual Hockey for Hope Classic at Cairns Arena, and it was the first time some local high school girls’ hockey teams geared up in preparation for the winter season.

On Friday, game one of the four-team tournament pitted Rice against Plattsburgh, and Gillian Boule scored a game winner in the waning seconds of the contest to propel the Hornets past the Green Knights 2-1 and on to the championship.

In game two, the South Burlington Wolves looked to be in mid-season form, blowing past Middlebury 6-1 behind a hat trick from Kate Hall.

Plattsburgh went on to take the championship on Saturday, 3-2 over South Burlington.
