Baseball and hot dog fans flocked to Centennial Field Tuesday night to get their hands on 25-cent hot dogs.
The Lake Monsters hosted the first “Hot Dog Hysteria” night of the season, and the dogs were a big hit as usual.
On the diamond, the Lake Monsters struggled for hits in the early innings. Connecticut started the game with a 1-0 lead on a successful sacrifice fly from Jake Holton.
Then in the bottom of the third inning, Vermont responded as Jordan Diaz launched a long double into center field and sent Nick Ward home to tie the game 1-1.
However, the Tigers regained the lead in the next frame with a two-run, 390-foot home run from Kona Quiggle. Connecticut continued to rack up runs to seal a 6-3 win over Vermont.
Game 2 of the series is slated for Wednesday at 7:05 p.m. at Centennial Field.
