Vermont scored first, but the first run didn’t hold up in the Lake Monsters’ return to Centennial Field on Sunday.
Lake Monsters catcher Kyle McCann opened scoring in the first inning on an RBI groundout, and that was the only run Vermont put up in a 4-1 loss.
Hudson Valley took the lead in the fourth when Renegades shortstop Nick Sogard hit an RBI single to drive in Jacson McGowan.
McGowan went 2-for-4 in the game with a double and an RBI single of his own, and HV oufielder Garrett Hoitt was red hot with four hits.
Vermont second baseman Michael Woodworth posteda 3-for-4 outing in the loss, and was the lone run for the home team.
