BURLINGTON, Vt. - The Lake Monsters turned their luck around Friday, winning their second in a row with a 5-2 final over the Batavia Muckdogs.
Marcos Brito sparked the Vermont offense in the 2nd inning when he roped a two-out solo home run for a 1-0 lead. The 396-foot bomb was Brito's first home run of the season.
In the same inning, Payton Squier popped a bloop single into shallow center to plate a second run for the Monsters.
Batavia recorded a home run in the 4th inning and then scored on a wild pitch in the 6th inning to tie the game 2-2.
The Lake Monsters then answered in the bottom of that inning with a two-RBI single from Max Schuemann for a 4-2 advantage.
Jose Rivas added some insurance in the 7th frame of play with an RBI line drive. Vermont pulled ahead for a 5-2 win over Batavia. The series continues through Sunday.
