The Vermont Lake Monsters hosted the Lowell Spinners for game one of a three-game series at Centennial field.
The game was scoreless for the first six and a half innings. In the bottom of the seventh inning the bases were loaded and Kevin Richards accounted for all three runs with a bases loaded triple.
Tyler Baum, Richard Morban and Jose Mora combined on a four-hit shutout.
Vermont (30-35) will host Lowell in the second of the three-game series at 7:05 p.m. on Friday.
