Lake Monsters shut down Tri-City on opening day

It was only a 20-minute rain delay at Centennial field, and Vermont wasted no time getting on the board against Tri-City.

Three runs scored on a trio of doubles in the very first inning, and Vermont took care of the ValleyCats 4-0 in the season opener.

Vermont utilized four pitchers in this one, and the quartet allowed just two hits and struck out a team-record 19 batters in the process.

The Lake Monsters have now won their past two home openers, and improved to 9-17 all-time in season openers.
