Vermont takes down Batavia to close out series

The Vermont Lake Monsters closed out a series against Batavia tonight on Hot Dog Hysteria night.

Vermont hit a team record 19 strikeouts for the second time this season.

Jordan Diaz sent a leadoff solo home run in the bottom of the second inning to put the Monsters on the board and tie things up at 1-1. This marked his fifth home run of the season.

Kyle McCann tallied a line drive RBI single in the bottom of the second to put Vermont ahead 2-1.

The score stayed the same until the bottom of the eighth inning. A wild pitch from Geremy Galindez sent Logan Davidson home from third to score.

Vermont closed out the series with a 3-1 win over the Muckdogs. The Lake Monsters improve to 13-18 overall and Batavia moves to 18-12.

The Lake Monsters will begin a three-game series at Staten Island on Wednesday. Vermont will return back to Centennial Field facing Tri-City on Saturday.
