The second-seeded Plattsburgh State Cardinals hosted No. three SUNY Geneseo for the men’s lacrosse conference semifinals today.
The Knights dominated the first quarter as it closed out with a 5-2 Geneseo lead. Heading into halftime the Cardinals worked its way back and tied it up 6-6 heading into the second half.
After working back from a 10-7 deficit in the fourth quarter, SUNY Geneseo pulled past PSU with six seconds left on the clock for an 11-10 win.
As the final seconds winded down the two teams broke out into a brawl on the field but shook hands in the end.
Sophomore goalie Joe Falco made 11 saves in the tough loss for the Cardinals.
Plattsburgh finished its season at 7-9 overall, while the Knights move to 8-9 overall. Geneseo will take on top-seeded SUNY Cortland in the SUNYAC championship game on Saturday, May 4, at 1 p.m.
