Maine fends off UVM women’s hoops with late run


Maine women’s basketball exploded in the final quarter of the game to pull away from UVM for a 63-51 win Wednesday night at Patrick Gym.

The Black Bears ripped off a 12-0 run in the fourth quarter behind a 27-point night from Tanesha Sutton.

Vermont kept the game close in the second quarter, tying the score four times throughout the match.

Hanna Crymble led the way with 14 points and seven rebounds for the Catamounts, and Josie Larkins added 13 points as the only UVM players to reach double figures in scoring.

With the loss, Vermont slipped to 5-10 overall and 1-2 in conference play. The Catamounts hit the road to take on Hartford Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
